Spelling Bee Winners!

Congratulations to our Spelling Bee winners! These students will move on to the Black Gold Regional Spelling Bee on February 18th at Caledonia Park School.

Jelly Bean Hockey Guess

If your child is in Grade 4, you may have already heard all about the "Oilers Jelly Beans." Below is a picture of the Oilers Jelly Bean Jar. For $2, a guess can be made as to how many jelly beans are in the Oilers jar. The winner will receive all of those jelly beans AND two tickets to the February 23rd Oilers game! The draw date will be on Feb. 16th. This activity is sponsored by the Grade 4s of Willow Park School in efforts to raise money for their Drumheller field trip. Thank you to Amanda Sawatzky and Strathcona Mechanical for the generous donation!

A Message from PAWS

It's PAWS-AGM time again! We need you there!

Join us on Wednesday, February 10th at 7- 9 pm in the Willow Park School Staff Room

We want to:

  • Report on last year's work
  • Review Financial Statements
  • Hear your ideas on what to do for the next year
  • Give some new people a chance to get involved at election time

Willow Park School is a learning community. The community is made up of students, staff and the parents of the school. All of these have a strong interest in the school.

The parents' association is the structure through which parents in the school can work together for the best possible education and opportunities for our children.

On February 10th, PAWS (Parents' Association of Willow Park School) will be hosting our annual AGM. We are seeking new members to join our executive as well as serve as general members. This is the best time to join as we work with outgoing members for support and training for incoming members.

Weekly Update Jan. 18-22, 2016

On Monday, Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten registration opened up. The response was huge! Our Pre-kindergarten program is now full, but we are still accepting registrations for the 2016-2017 Kindergarten year. All students must live in our attendance area.

Aside from registrations, this week is a pretty quiet week:

Wednesday: Hot Lunch from Boston Pizza for those that ordered.

Friday: The students will be put into their Family Groups for a games session. Students are welcome to bring in one of their favorite games (please ensure it is labelled). The girls basketball team is heading to Calmar for a basketball tournament. Some of our lucky students will be heading to Rexall to watch the Oil Kings play in the evening.

ALL WEEK: Movie tickets for our January Family Event will be on sale all week. Willow Park's students and their families are invited to join us on Sunday, January 24th at 10 am at the Leduc Cinemas to watch Disney's 'Inside Out.' Tickets are $3 and students must be accompanied by an adult.

Come meet the characters the students have been learning about in assembly - Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust, and Sadness. These characters are helping teach your child(ren) how to regulate their emotions (the topic of this month's assemblies). 'Inside Out' is a fun explanation as to what's going on in your child's head when they're feeling different emotions.
