Weekly Update Oct. 26-30, 2015

This week should be an interesting week - a full moon tonight, fun activities for the kids all week and Halloween this weekend! All sorts of energy in the air!

Monday: Miss Titus' grade 5 students are making their way to Planeview Manor today to Adopt a Grandparent. This is an exciting opportunity for the students and for the residents of Planeview. Have fun, guys!

Tuesday: Mrs. Sparkes' Crochet Club is a hit with the students! Meetings are usually on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays and she has created a blog to keep her club members informed - http://wpscrochetclub.blogspot.ca/. You can find this link on our school webpage under the 'Students' drop down menu.

Also, just a reminder that tonight is our pilot family night - Family Pumpkin Carving Night. Willow Park Staff is looking for fun ways to get to know the students AND their families on a more personal level. Bring your pumpkins, tools, and snacks to the gym this evening from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. We look forward to seeing your family there!

Thursday: Mrs. Chapman's class has been working very hard on their Haunted House in their portable. Today is their chance to showcase the finished product to all the other classes. Parents are welcome to come check it out as well, but be sure to check in at the office first.

Friday: Please check out your child's teacher's blog to find out what kind of Halloween activities are going on in their classroom.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Weekly Update Oct. 5-9, 2015

Fall has definitely arrived! The leaves have all changed colors and the temperature has dropped. The mornings are chilly so please make sure your child is wearing the appropriate outerwear - a tuque and mittens wouldn't be a bad idea, even if just for the morning.

For the next week and a bit we will be accepting Food Bank Donations. There is a donation box in the front entrance boot room and also one in the foyer of the school.

Monday: Today is Pajama Day! The grade 3 students will be writing their Digital SLAs this morning from 9:30-11 am. Also, today and tomorrow the grades 1-4 students will be taking part in Bus Safety presentations.

Tuesday: Today is the second half of the Bus Safety presentations.

Wednesday: Very important reminder for parents! There are NO KINDERGARTEN CLASSES today and for the rest of the students it is EARLY DISMISSAL. The students will be dismissed at 2:15 pm today.

Thursday & Friday: Business as usual.

If there are any parents or visitors of the school that have lost vehicle keys, we have acquired 3 sets. Two of the sets have fobs, which we know are expensive, and one set has just a key. The sets have keys to a Dodge vehicle, a Chrysler vehicle, and a Ford.

Have a great week, everyone!

Weekend Update Oct. 2, 2015

Aside from the Picture Days on Monday and Tuesday, the rest of the week was pretty quiet. This weekend is a lot more eventful!

Friday: Today is the first day of the PAWS Casino Fundraiser in Camrose. The Casino will be going on today and tomorrow. Mrs. Brunken will be there this evening doing her part! Thank you to all of the other parent volunteers that will help make this weekend go smoothly, and to PAWS for organizing this event.

Saturday: Good luck to our Wildcats that are participating in the Bole Cross Country Meet at Leduc Estates! Races will begin at 11 am. The team will be meeting at 10:15 am, north of the playground.

A couple reminders for next week:

- Monday, October 5th is Pajama Day! Your child is welcome to wear their favorite pair of pajamas and slippers on this day. We ask that stuffed animals be left at home, unless otherwise specified by your child's teacher.

- Please bring back the Parent-Teacher Interview forms as soon as possible to get the time you are requesting. Parent-Teacher Meetings will be held on Wednesday, October 14th and Thursday, October 15th from 3:30-7:30.

- If you happen to come across any permission/verification forms this weekend, please sign and return them by next week!

Have a great weekend everyone!
